When attempting to change class, the Class menu will automatically bring up the last character you interacted with in the menu screen (such as equipping or using a skill out of combat). Working on a fix, but until then that's the only work around.

Ah, Page Up and Page Down will also change it. As it stands, there is no way to correct this at the moment. Luckily, it can just be rolled into development.
